As you all are aware statewide elections will be held in November.  Our PAC (RPOA-M PAC) can use your generous contributions so it can help our legislative friends.  The legislature¹s recent increased emphasis on Mortgage Fraud (a draft bill has already been introduced), points out again our need for constant vigilance by our lobbyists in Lansing. Our lobbyist was at the first hearing on Mortgage Fraud held in Lansing a few weeks ago!  Contributions to the PAC are needed to help our lobbyists to do their job of influencing legislation.  PAC money helps our lobbyists advance our legislative interests with input. Please contribute, even if it is just a small amount. Anything will help!  We suggest that all member associations make appeals at their August and September general membership meetings.

We suggest that each regular member make a contribution of at least $10.00.  We also suggest that each local and state board member make a contribution of $50 to $100.  This will be one of the best uses of your money. Look at it as Business Insurance. 

Some of the recent RPOA-M accomplishments - a bill was passed in July that allows a rental property owner to collect from the tenant for his labor making tenant caused repairs, got passed the 24 hour Drug Eviction Bill, obtained an increase in the legal fees chargeable to a losing defendant, obtained 10% garnishment of welfare checks, provided input to make the Governor¹s Lead Paint Coalition Guidelines more reasonable, had rental property owners removed from a bill which would have limited access to Social Security numbers.
